Influenster Holiday VoxBox 2012: better than expected

Christmas came and past, and my Holiday Voxbox still had not arrived, sure I was expecting just the box of chocolates people seemed to be getting, and even if that wasn't something I was interested in the candy its self, I wanted to give them as a christmas gift.

I woke up this morning, still convinced that the post office had stolen my box like they have with packages in the past, I was pleasantly surprised to see it sitting in my mail box.   When I got it in my room and opened it up the products I saw were SO much better than a box of chocolates, it was jam packed full of things I would actually use and liked.  I'll give you a list of the items, what I think of them and the prices of each below.

Quaker Real Medleys Oatmeal+ $1.79 PER CUP : The cup I got came in peach almond I do love Quaker Peaches & Cream so I was really excited when this was just as good. those just add water things are great for me on the go as I can take them to work with me or eat a quick something on the run. I loved how it wasn't over powered with nuts. My only complain was that the peach chunks were a bit tart, but still good.

New York Color Liquid Lipshine $2.49 PER TUBE : My gloss came in $582 Nude York City. It is actually a very gorgeous nude shimmer color that will look great by its self or over a lipstick (i'm putting it over my Jemma Kidd lipstick in Temptress) I've used this gloss back in junior high but its been ages, so I'm excited to see if I really like it or not.

Kiss Nail Dress $6.99 PER KIT : Much like NYC makeup, Influenster likes to send out Kiss nail products. Last month I got these horrendous press on nails in an ugly patter that didn't fit, and just were all over eew. This time I got the little nail tattoos is basically what I think of, but the one they sent me is in the pattern Babydoll. its a really pretty champaign color with little rhinestones all over them, something I would actually wear out, they will be great for new years. I've never tried this product before so if I like them I can see myself spending the money to get some for when I need a manicure to go to an event.

EBOOST Natural Energy Drink Mix $28-40 PER CASE : This natural energy drink powder came in pink lemonade. To buy them in a case is over the top expensive  but if I get free ones in future boxes I wont complain, the package is so adorable, but the flavor was quite gross. When adding the mix to the powder it fizzes up like an alkaseltzer and is hard to get mixed up. The flavor while having a lemonade flavor was more chalky and like drinking grainy minerals. I overall was not a fan.

Goody QuikStyle Brush $11.99 PER BRUSH I was SO excited to see this in my  box, because I used this brush at a friends when my hair was dry, but I absolutely loved the way it made my hair feel. I have super curly thick hair, and this brush kept it from feeling frizzy and went all the way through. It really does what it is suppose to do as well, My drying time was cut down because the brush got out so much extra water from my hair. I've wanted to buy it for a while now but I couldn't justify spending $12 on a hair brush, so getting it for free just literally made my week.

$25 off First Pair of Shoes at solesociety.com : I got one of these in my December IPSY bag as well, I don't get shoes from sole society, I gave the code to my friend, and if anyone reading this would like it feel free to use it (you can see it on the picture)

Montagne Jeunesse Fase Mask $2ish PER MASK : Apparently not everyone got this mask, according to the card it was based on demographics iono. I've used these mask in the past and loved them. In my Holiday Voxbox I received the aloe infused one, and after using it my face felt so refreshed and clean, I could really see where it deep cleaned my pores something many mask dont do. Though the smell wasnt ideal with this one due to the aloe scent, it did its job and I'm looking forward to repurchasing it in the near future to add to my weekly skin care routine.

Overall I was really impressed with my VoxBox this month, it was so much better than the previous one, if you guys would like feel free to check out my unboxing video below, and like/subscribe!  Let me know what YOU though of the products, and what colors/patters your products were in your box.

 XO,

Maryann

Language learning programs for kids (influesnter task)

Doing everything I can to milk the freebies out of influenster.com tonight, one of the task that was on my profile was for the Dino Lingo Holiday Badge.  Now usually I just mute my computer if I have to watch videos or something with sound, but as a lover of languages and as a nanny , the videos are meant for children, I actually watched the Polish video here .  I was rather impressed by the quality and easy to understand learning tools that the videos used. The kids loved it and so did this Nanny. I would definitely recommend to anyone with children in their lives this program.

Influenster College Voxbox : the disappointing first box

Influenster is so much fun, from the moment I heard about it and went to sign up I've been addicted. I love to comment and critique things, so getting to do that with products I use every day then get FREE things sent to me was the bomb-diggity.

Getting that conformation email in my inbox saying I was going to receive my first VoxBox was the highlight of my day that day. It was also going to be the College VoxBox  sure i'm not in college right now but i'm in that age range, all of my friends are in college right now, so yes excited is a bit of an understatement.  I was expecting some really cool products what exactly I was expecting i'm not sure but I know it wasn't what actually came in the box.

I watched unboxing of the same box on a few other YouTube channels before receiving my box, I was not impressed and hoped that like in other services people would get different things, that was unfortunately not the case.

Below I will add a list of the products that came in my box along with the price per item, and a photo.

Impress Press-On Manicure, $5.99-7.99 per kit : I was not at all impressed with these nails, the first thing that killed it was the pattern which is called space cadet (pattern is in the picture) was this tacky glittery black and white giraffe print. It was overly tacky and not my style at all, maybe if they had of been in a more subtle pattern ($7.99 per kit) or plain color ($5.99 per kit)  I would have been a bit more interested  Eventually I did try them on just to see how they fit. Again not impressed. the sizes were strange and were either way to small or way to large for my nails, they also stuck out at a strange length I just didn't like they way they looked on my fingers. Now my next and final con about the nails was that they don't stick well. For something that is
suppose to last for up to a week the only lasted about five minutes.

NYC Color Show Time Glitter Eyeliner, $2.49 per pencil :  I was a  bit disappointed to see such a cheap drugstore brand in the box, but NYC really isn't all that bad with some of their products. This eyeliner is glittery and the glitter sticks to your face like crazy which I don't really care for since i'm not a glitter obsessed girl, and it gets in my eyes blah just no bueno. The pigmentation of this eyeliner is phenomenal; it has a very deep creamy black pigment that really does last quite a while and looks nice on your eyes. This is never something I would buy for myself but i'm glad that I got to see the quality of NYC eyeliners so that perhaps in the future I will pick up a non-glittery one.

Necco Tropical Wafers, $1.25 per pack :  Minus the green ones I've always loved Necco Wafers, so to see a full sized package of the candies was really awesome since I had never tried the tropical ones before. Very sweet and tangy the candies come in an array of flavors. This was probably my favorite product in the entire box.

Pentel EnerGel-X Ink Pen, $1.90 per pen :  I thought putting a pen in the box was silly, though it was really only one of two things that are even remotely college related as the box is themed. I love pens, and it takes a lot for a pen to impress me but this one did. The purple color was a massive bonus since its my favorite color and I often write in purple ink anyways.  The smooth gel ink just lets the pen glide across paper and doesn't leave smudges or bleeds in my papers. I would definitely purchase this pen on my own in the future.

Energy Sheets, $5.95 per pack : What college student doesn't need an extra boost of energy, right? Well if you're looking for that quick pick me up to finish your mid term paper, or to stay awake during that long droning American Lit lecture every Tuesday and Thursday  this is not the product for you. The sheets are suppose to dissolve on your tongue within seconds much like a mouth wash sheet for fresh breath, but these just get sticky and glue themselves to your tongue. If the strange consistency isn't enough to turn you off the overpowering mint flavor will, it literally burns your mouth it is so strong. The sheets also do not give the boost of energy they are suppose to you'd be better off spending your $6 on a  few cups of coffee from the student center than waste it on these nasty creatures.

Overall I was very unimpressed with this VoxBox as you can see below in the unboxing video I did on my YouTube channel.  Let me know what you thought of your College VoxBox from  Influenster.
