Influenster 2013 Sweetheart Voxbox

Sweetheart Voxbox 2013

The love that was in the air had passed by the the sweetheartbox came in the mail this month, but none the less it was a pretty nifty box.  The value of this box was at about $40ish dollars I believe and I couldn't be happier.

Skinnygirl Coco-Nut with Peanut Butter On the Go Bars, $12.99:

First off i'm not a fan of  peanut-butter or coconut, but these were really quite good. They were chewy and not too overbearingly coconut which I liked. Though I would never buy them myself because they are so freaking expensive for a granola bar, I wouldn't turn it down if I got another free one.

Olay Fresh Effects Va-Va-Vivid! Powered Contour Cleansing System,$13:

Im pretty picky about what I use on my face, but when I saw this in my voxbox I was intrigued.  The brushes gentile vibration of the brush and their soft yet firm rubber bristles really feel amazing on my face, and the triangular head helps me to get perfectly into the creases of my nose and on my t-zone/hairline. The actual product is a metallic silver when you squirt it from the tube which is a bit trippy but far more exciting than boring white face cleaner.  After a few days of using the system I can really tell my face feels cleaner and fresher, my breakouts are less and my skin just feels soft.  I would recommend checking this system out for sure.

Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray, $6

First off let me start by saying this product smells like Magic. Because it does.  The coconut scent gives you that feel like you're really sitting on the beach with awesome hair. Though I have very curly and textured hair I love to use this product on my bangs to give them a bit of texture to style with. Since I don't use it often enough I cant give a very accurate long term review.

Secret Clinical Strength Stress Response Deodorant: $7-10

I was a little put off at first when I saw that there was a deodorant in my voxbox.  Way to tell my my pits stink Influenster. When I saw the retail value of this product I was in shock, I don't think I could ever spend more than $3 on deodorant, ever. I opened the lid and undid the little plastic seal and was very pleased to see that it was a gel type which is my favorite, I sniffed and it smelled wonderfully of citrus and not the horrendous overbearing type either, just light and summery.  I sweat a lot at work, running after a one year old is hard stuff especially with crazy arkansas weather i'm also a super stressed person so this was targeted at my type of person definitely. On the first day I wore the deodorant I sat down during nap time around 1:30pm (7ish hours after putting it on) and couldn't figure out  where the amazing smell was coming from. There were no flowers or air fresheners in the house, finally I realized it was coming from my pits. After seven hours of running around the house and hard core playing, I still smelled wonderful, and still once I got home two hours later I still could smell the deodorant  I would recommend this product to anyone who has an active lifestyle or needs a bit more cover for their B/O it is magical.

January 2013 Ipsy Bag

for those of you who do not know what ipsy is, it is a beauty subscription service. Once a month you get a makeup bag filled with 4-5 large sample or full sized products from various brands which can range from Urban Decay to NYX. The cost is $10 per month and they ship to the USA and Canada. I've received three bags now and they have all been amazing. If you would like to sign up please follow this link: http://www.ipsy.com

January Ipsy/MyGlam Bag: Super Stars

I originally was not going to get the January bag after seeing the sneak peaks because I'm more of a makeup girl than hair and body products kinda girl, but after seeing my friends bag (which came like 1.5 weeks earlier than mine, yet she lives 30min away from me) I knew that I was going to be excited for it.  As always below are the products, full size cost box worth, and photos of all the products that I received as well as my review.

Everything was full size: [nail polish, lotion, brush] or travel size [hair spray, argan oil]
1.London SOHO New York Eyeliner Brush: $8.99
2.Nailtini - Bloody Mary Nail Polish: $13.00
3.Pacifica - Blood Orange Body Butter: $7.00
4.BigSexyHair - Hair Spray: $6.00
5.Josie Maran - Argan Oil: $4.67
Bag Worth: $39.66 (not including bag its more)

Josie Maran 100% Argan Oil, $14-50:This 100% Pure Argan Oil is a legendary oil that's rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, and grown organically in Morocco. With its multitasking benefits, Argan Oil can be used for many areas including hydrating and nourishing skin as a daily moisturizer, skin treatment, treating spilt ends, and softening cuticles. It's gentle enough to use on all skin types and is known to help with skin conditions including acne, eczema and rosacea. Argan Oil easily absorbs into skin to give you a youthful, dewy glow, and has astonishing healing, conditioning, and anti aging properties to keep your skin and hair nourished and revitalized and to keep you looking beautiful from head to toe. As says Ipsy. I love argan oil, and use it pretty much every day on my hair to keep it looking shiny and perfect.  The bottle they gave us in this months bag was very generous I must say. Its always nice to get an all over product that is actually useful and worth receiving.

Big Sexy Hair Hairspray, $6
The bottle we received this month of the BSH spray was one of the  travel sized bottles, which is nice because they're rather expensive in stores in my opinion. And for someone who doesn't use hairspray often, a travel size was perfect. The spray really holds your hair in place for hours without budging and has a pleasant smell to it. "Your everyday spray for BIG volume! Spray & Play is a humidity resistant, flexible hold hairspray that provides fullness, lift and incredible shine! Perfect for all hair types" As ipsy says.

Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange Body Butter, $7:
Tuscan Blood Orange Body Butter is not only a highly effective antioxidant rich moisturizer that nourishes the driest of skin and helps fight off the signs of aging; it nourishes your other senses as well. The infusion of sparkling, juicy blood oranges that are highlighted with notes of red raspberry and spicy sweet Italian Mandarins take you to the beaches of the Mediterranean. Made with nature’s best moisturizers - Shea butter, almond oil and safflower oil. I was very impressed with this product. I've used it non-stop on my legs which seem to get very bumpy after shaving. The smell is truly amazing and the thick consistancy really makes me feel like its going onto my skin.  I cant wait for this to run out so I can go out and buy a full sized bottle at Target or TJ Maxx .

Nailtini Nail Laquer, $13
I had heard amazing things about the Nailtini brand from other Ipsy members and was excited to try it out! Though I was hoping for the Frappe color which was a nude (it was the other color given out this month) I was equally as happy with the beautiful vibrant red in the shade Bloody Mary. The formula for the polish is  very thin yet pigmented and opaque. I was amazed by the drying time, maybe three minutes before my nails were completely dry and smudge proof. I look forward to receiving more from this brand and purchasing other colors in the future.

SOHO Eyeliner Brush, $8 :
It was nice to see a brush in the bag this month, I recently started to use gel liner and this brush came in handy until I got the hang of it and purchased a better suited brush. If you're looking to do thick wide lines with your liner this is your brush, its flat topped and slightly thick for an eyeliner brush, but it works none the less. You also could have gotten the crease or concealer brush in your bag.

January Birchbox (first box)

I know, I know. I a so behind on doing box reviews and product reviews and everything of the sort, but have no fear today is the day I catch up on all the boxes I received in January, February and so far in March, as well as maybe a few reviews of products i've been crazy about lately.

January 2013 Birchbox: Best Year Ever
This was my first ever Birchbox  I was a bit apprehensive to try it out because I've seen videos of other girls boxes and the samples were so small and dinky and they repeat products it seems almost constantly and especially since I already get Ipsy.  My box came in the mail right on time, and wouldn't you know it was missing the ONE product I actually wanted to try. the Embryolisse- Lait-Crème Concentrè so I am leaving it out of the review. I did email Birchbox and they didn't have any samples left so they gave me 100pts on my account which I was happy with, that is something that I love about Birchbox, is their amazing customer service. Overall I would give this box with the products I actually got about a 3/5 because the Eyeko liner is phenomenal and I am now obsessed with Larabars and eat them every morning.

What came in my box?

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in Black, $16.00 full size:

I was pretty impressed with this sample in my box this month. It was  just a tad smaller than a full sized product and the liner itself is great! very pigmented and long lasting, I also loved how it's a liquid liner but in a pen form.  I would actually use this product again after my sample one runs out, i'd love to try it in the colors other than black.

Aerie Shimmer Fragrance, $39.95 per 1.7oz bottle:

I am never that excited to get dinky perfume samples in boxes, when I can go to any store that sells perfume and get them for free. This scent is nice. It is a blend of bergamot, peony, and a subtle hint of vanilla. I wouldn't go out and purchase a full sized bottle of the perfume but at least if I want to wear it out once or twice I'll have the sample. The packaging was adorable though, it came wrapped in a little silver wrapping like a small gift.

Ojon damage reverse Instant Restorative Hair Serum $25:

This sample was about the same size as a perfume sample, not exactly awesome if you ask me, how am I suppose to tell if it works or not?  This was probably my least favorite product in the box, and I would definitely not go out and buy it again, I will stick with my Organix and my Josie Maran products.  It was overly oily more like olive oil than a hair serum usually feels like to me.

Larabar Uber in Cherry Cobbler, $5-9 per box.
Lifestyle Extra

When I first saw $9 I stupidly though that it meant per bar oops.  Though the Uber bar is not my favorite I am now a massive fan of the Larabar's I eat them daily for breakfast and mid-day snacks because they are luckily gluten free which fits into my diet perfectly. The flavor I got in my box was cherry cobbler and it was very very tart so if you're not a fan of tart then I wouldn't suggest trying this flavor.  I look forward to getting more of the bite sized samples in future boxes.

Let me know what you got in your box and what you think of the products!

Influenster Holiday VoxBox 2012: better than expected

Christmas came and past, and my Holiday Voxbox still had not arrived, sure I was expecting just the box of chocolates people seemed to be getting, and even if that wasn't something I was interested in the candy its self, I wanted to give them as a christmas gift.

I woke up this morning, still convinced that the post office had stolen my box like they have with packages in the past, I was pleasantly surprised to see it sitting in my mail box.   When I got it in my room and opened it up the products I saw were SO much better than a box of chocolates, it was jam packed full of things I would actually use and liked.  I'll give you a list of the items, what I think of them and the prices of each below.

Quaker Real Medleys Oatmeal+ $1.79 PER CUP : The cup I got came in peach almond I do love Quaker Peaches & Cream so I was really excited when this was just as good. those just add water things are great for me on the go as I can take them to work with me or eat a quick something on the run. I loved how it wasn't over powered with nuts. My only complain was that the peach chunks were a bit tart, but still good.

New York Color Liquid Lipshine $2.49 PER TUBE : My gloss came in $582 Nude York City. It is actually a very gorgeous nude shimmer color that will look great by its self or over a lipstick (i'm putting it over my Jemma Kidd lipstick in Temptress) I've used this gloss back in junior high but its been ages, so I'm excited to see if I really like it or not.

Kiss Nail Dress $6.99 PER KIT : Much like NYC makeup, Influenster likes to send out Kiss nail products. Last month I got these horrendous press on nails in an ugly patter that didn't fit, and just were all over eew. This time I got the little nail tattoos is basically what I think of, but the one they sent me is in the pattern Babydoll. its a really pretty champaign color with little rhinestones all over them, something I would actually wear out, they will be great for new years. I've never tried this product before so if I like them I can see myself spending the money to get some for when I need a manicure to go to an event.

EBOOST Natural Energy Drink Mix $28-40 PER CASE : This natural energy drink powder came in pink lemonade. To buy them in a case is over the top expensive  but if I get free ones in future boxes I wont complain, the package is so adorable, but the flavor was quite gross. When adding the mix to the powder it fizzes up like an alkaseltzer and is hard to get mixed up. The flavor while having a lemonade flavor was more chalky and like drinking grainy minerals. I overall was not a fan.

Goody QuikStyle Brush $11.99 PER BRUSH I was SO excited to see this in my  box, because I used this brush at a friends when my hair was dry, but I absolutely loved the way it made my hair feel. I have super curly thick hair, and this brush kept it from feeling frizzy and went all the way through. It really does what it is suppose to do as well, My drying time was cut down because the brush got out so much extra water from my hair. I've wanted to buy it for a while now but I couldn't justify spending $12 on a hair brush, so getting it for free just literally made my week.

$25 off First Pair of Shoes at solesociety.com : I got one of these in my December IPSY bag as well, I don't get shoes from sole society, I gave the code to my friend, and if anyone reading this would like it feel free to use it (you can see it on the picture)

Montagne Jeunesse Fase Mask $2ish PER MASK : Apparently not everyone got this mask, according to the card it was based on demographics iono. I've used these mask in the past and loved them. In my Holiday Voxbox I received the aloe infused one, and after using it my face felt so refreshed and clean, I could really see where it deep cleaned my pores something many mask dont do. Though the smell wasnt ideal with this one due to the aloe scent, it did its job and I'm looking forward to repurchasing it in the near future to add to my weekly skin care routine.

Overall I was really impressed with my VoxBox this month, it was so much better than the previous one, if you guys would like feel free to check out my unboxing video below, and like/subscribe!  Let me know what YOU though of the products, and what colors/patters your products were in your box.

Maryann

Language learning programs for kids (influesnter task)

Doing everything I can to milk the freebies out of influenster.com tonight, one of the task that was on my profile was for the Dino Lingo Holiday Badge.  Now usually I just mute my computer if I have to watch videos or something with sound, but as a lover of languages and as a nanny , the videos are meant for children, I actually watched the Polish video here .  I was rather impressed by the quality and easy to understand learning tools that the videos used. The kids loved it and so did this Nanny. I would definitely recommend to anyone with children in their lives this program.

Influenster College Voxbox : the disappointing first box

Influenster is so much fun, from the moment I heard about it and went to sign up I've been addicted. I love to comment and critique things, so getting to do that with products I use every day then get FREE things sent to me was the bomb-diggity.

Getting that conformation email in my inbox saying I was going to receive my first VoxBox was the highlight of my day that day. It was also going to be the College VoxBox  sure i'm not in college right now but i'm in that age range, all of my friends are in college right now, so yes excited is a bit of an understatement.  I was expecting some really cool products what exactly I was expecting i'm not sure but I know it wasn't what actually came in the box.

I watched unboxing of the same box on a few other YouTube channels before receiving my box, I was not impressed and hoped that like in other services people would get different things, that was unfortunately not the case.

Below I will add a list of the products that came in my box along with the price per item, and a photo.

Impress Press-On Manicure, $5.99-7.99 per kit : I was not at all impressed with these nails, the first thing that killed it was the pattern which is called space cadet (pattern is in the picture) was this tacky glittery black and white giraffe print. It was overly tacky and not my style at all, maybe if they had of been in a more subtle pattern ($7.99 per kit) or plain color ($5.99 per kit)  I would have been a bit more interested  Eventually I did try them on just to see how they fit. Again not impressed. the sizes were strange and were either way to small or way to large for my nails, they also stuck out at a strange length I just didn't like they way they looked on my fingers. Now my next and final con about the nails was that they don't stick well. For something that is
suppose to last for up to a week the only lasted about five minutes.

NYC Color Show Time Glitter Eyeliner, $2.49 per pencil :  I was a  bit disappointed to see such a cheap drugstore brand in the box, but NYC really isn't all that bad with some of their products. This eyeliner is glittery and the glitter sticks to your face like crazy which I don't really care for since i'm not a glitter obsessed girl, and it gets in my eyes blah just no bueno. The pigmentation of this eyeliner is phenomenal; it has a very deep creamy black pigment that really does last quite a while and looks nice on your eyes. This is never something I would buy for myself but i'm glad that I got to see the quality of NYC eyeliners so that perhaps in the future I will pick up a non-glittery one.

Necco Tropical Wafers, $1.25 per pack :  Minus the green ones I've always loved Necco Wafers, so to see a full sized package of the candies was really awesome since I had never tried the tropical ones before. Very sweet and tangy the candies come in an array of flavors. This was probably my favorite product in the entire box.

Pentel EnerGel-X Ink Pen, $1.90 per pen :  I thought putting a pen in the box was silly, though it was really only one of two things that are even remotely college related as the box is themed. I love pens, and it takes a lot for a pen to impress me but this one did. The purple color was a massive bonus since its my favorite color and I often write in purple ink anyways.  The smooth gel ink just lets the pen glide across paper and doesn't leave smudges or bleeds in my papers. I would definitely purchase this pen on my own in the future.

Energy Sheets, $5.95 per pack : What college student doesn't need an extra boost of energy, right? Well if you're looking for that quick pick me up to finish your mid term paper, or to stay awake during that long droning American Lit lecture every Tuesday and Thursday  this is not the product for you. The sheets are suppose to dissolve on your tongue within seconds much like a mouth wash sheet for fresh breath, but these just get sticky and glue themselves to your tongue. If the strange consistency isn't enough to turn you off the overpowering mint flavor will, it literally burns your mouth it is so strong. The sheets also do not give the boost of energy they are suppose to you'd be better off spending your $6 on a  few cups of coffee from the student center than waste it on these nasty creatures.

Overall I was very unimpressed with this VoxBox as you can see below in the unboxing video I did on my YouTube channel.  Let me know what you thought of your College VoxBox from  Influenster.
